During the search of a recycling center, authorities uncovered around 700 catalytic converters and over 1,100 pounds of copper wire, highlighting the scale of the criminal operation.
The investigations reveal a significant organized crime effort average more than $6.4 million in transactions this year, showing the alarming extent of stolen property operations.
While there appeared to be a decline in catalytic converter theft last year, copper wire theft remains prevalent, with multiple incidents reported across the Bay Area.
