Construction on the home began in 1937, tragically unfinished due to Charles Barnhardt's death in 1938. The Cramer family maintained the property for 68 years with minimal changes.
Boyer was favored in Charlotte elite circles, and despite the Great Depression, his work thrived. The restoration involved a modern addition by Mermans Architecture and Grandfather Homes.
