Caltrans and VTA Widening Winchester Blvd./I-280 Interchange in San Jose - Streetsblog San Francisco
Briefly

Caltrans and Valley Transportation Authority plan to spend $153 million on freeway improvements in San Jose.
A new ADA compliant bike/ped overcrossing will be added, but it will replace an existing crossing that is in the way of a planned off-ramp.
The existing bike and ped crossing is described as dark, narrow, long, and unpleasant.
Sidewalks will be widened on the Winchester Boulevard bridge, but space will not be taken from car lanes to do so.
The project does not address the broader issues of traffic congestion and the effects of global warming.
