Winning this race was the coolest way that it could have possibly gone. It's hands down the closest race mentally, physically, and every aspect that I've had at Western States, so this one stands out.
I wasn't by myself more than 15, 20 minutes all day. It was me and Rod from 2.5 miles to the finish. It was brutal, cruel, and at the same time absolutely beautiful.
This sport is everything to me. It's where all my goals and dreams lie, and where my personal legacy will be built whether or not anyone out there agrees with it or not.
