I always regarded fitness as my superpower... Keeping fit I mean, really fit seemed to me an admirable and noble pursuit. Latching on to fitness was a way of controlling my body and my life... But it also became a habit...on my unravelling family life.
But it takes time, energy and discipline to achieve and maintain such a body, requiring rules and restraint that can be life-limiting and reek of patriarchal control. I was in thrall to fitness for three decades.
