'People crying out for homes' - Green Party furious over plans to shelve tax on land hoarding

"Everyone in Government agrees that we need in the region of 50,000 new homes every year, but that's going to be impossible if we allow speculators to sit on parcels of land that have been specifically zoned and serviced with infrastructure such as roads, electricity wires and water supplies."

"We're absolutely open to looking at ways that this process can be improved in the Budget - but we shouldn't use this issue as an excuse to abandon a measure that is crucial to solving our housing crisis."
