The NFL Players Association is suing DraftKings for breach of contract, claiming the sportsbook owes about $65 million from a 2021 licensing agreement for player likenesses.
NFLPA attorneys pointed out that five DraftKings executives made about $261.1 million since 2021, which is quadruple what DraftKings owes the NFLPA, highlighting discrepancies in compensation.
DraftKings' attorneys claim that the reason for terminating their contract with the NFLPA stems from the declining NFT market, stating that 'buyers' remorse is not a basis to terminate a contract.'
DraftKings announced the termination of its NFT marketplace citing legal issues and notified the NFLPA of its intent to end the licensing agreement shortly after.
