The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled it lacked the authority to lift the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's consent order requiring X Corp., which owns the site formerly known as Twitter, to have a privacy and security program and provide evaluations of the program's effectiveness.
The FTC alleged Twitter in May 2022 used users' personal information for advertisement targeting, not for security purposes.
