SS7 and Diameter protocols have known security weaknesses that leave folks vulnerable to unwanted snooping. Little has been done to address these exploitable shortcomings.
The FCC is asking telecommunications providers to detail their efforts in preventing SS7 and Diameter vulnerabilities, including any past exploits since 2018.
