California state senator sued by former chief of staff for alleged sexual harassment, retaliation
Briefly

The lawsuit claims that for much of 2023, state Sen. Marie Alvarado-Gil 'engaged in erratic, controlling, sexually dominating abuse of authority and power' against her chief of staff, Chad Condit.
'A disgruntled former employee has fabricated an outlandish story, presented without evidence, to get a payday,' said attorney Ognian Gavrilov, denying the accusations against Alvarado-Gil.
The lawsuit describes a 'sex-based quid pro quo relationship of unwelcome advances and sexual behaviors' which led to a hostile work environment for Condit.
Alvarado-Gil's switch from the Democratic to Republican Party after her election and her criticism of Democratic leadership adds a political dimension to the lawsuit.
