World's top climate scientists expect global heating to blast past 1.5C target
Briefly

Almost 80% of the IPCC respondents foresee at least 2.5C of global heating above preindustrial levels, with nearly half expecting at least 3C. Only 6% believe the internationally agreed 1.5C limit will be met.
Many experts anticipate a semi-dystopian future marked by famines, conflicts, and mass migrations due to extreme heatwaves, wildfires, floods, and storms, leading to feelings of hopelessness, anger, and fear.
Despite the grim outlook, scientists emphasize the importance of continuing the climate fight to mitigate human suffering by avoiding every fraction of a degree of temperature increase.
Peter Cox from the University of Exeter stresses that climate change is already dangerous and passing 2C does not mean 'game over,' highlighting the need for ongoing action.
