The mission has the international scientific community excited - the far side of the Moon, which permanently faces away from the Earth, remains mysterious, with only China having touched down on its surface so far.
Chinese officials revealed today that its Chang'e 6 rover returned just shy of two kilograms (4.4 pounds) of samples from the lunar far side, marking the first sample taken from this elusive area.
"The source of the obstacle in US-China aerospace cooperation is still in the Wolf Amendment," said China's National Space Administration vice chair, Bian Zhigang, calling for its removal to foster collaboration.
