Tonight, a brilliant aurora will flare up over Scotland and Northern Ireland, possibly visible in parts of Northern England and Wales, offering good opportunities for clear sky sightings.
'There's a slight chance of capturing some imagery for those in the north of England and Wales, though it may mean taking a long exposure camera shot to capture anything,' said the Met Office.
'Although the majority of the solar material is expected to miss Earth, a more Earth-directed component could not be ruled out,' as stated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
