In the California desert, a new wastewater plant might hold the key to cheap carbon removal
Briefly

The new process 'has the potential to dramatically reduce or even eliminate the cost of the carbon dioxide removal,' says Ethan Cohen-Cole, Capture6's CEO.
Most direct air capture technology works by pulling air through a filter or liquid to absorb CO2. But Capture6's tech reacts with CO2 to form a mineralized carbonate, eliminating the need for energy-intensive CO2 removal.
Capture6's carbon removal system is designed to facilitate decarbonization, not just remove CO2 from the atmosphere. The water treatment plant will also save emissions by avoiding traditional chemical use.
