Almost a fifth of female climate experts surveyed chose to have no children or fewer children due to environmental crises. Decision was extremely difficult, driven by fear of the child's future amidst climate crisis impacts.
Factors influencing the decision included concerns about adding more humans to the planet and witnessing adverse impacts on small islands. Some experts had one child as a compromise for a family-oriented partner and hope for a positive future.
