Event Horizon Telescope captures stunning new image of Milky Way's black hole
Briefly

Physicists have been confident since the 1980s that there is a supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy, known as Sagittarius A* (SgrA*). The new image of SgrA* captured by the Event Horizon Telescope highlights its swirling magnetic fields.
The EHT isn't a traditional telescope but a network of telescopes worldwide implementing interferometry to capture and process microwave light images at various locations, simulating the resolution of a telescope spanning distant areas.
