Edward C. Stone, the visionary physicist behind NASA's Voyager spacecraft, passed away at 88.
Stone led the Voyager missions, launched in 1977, still traveling through space after almost five decades.
Stone took advantage of a rare planetary alignment to guide the Voyager spacecraft past Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
