An antibiotic called lolamicin targets disease-causing Gram-negative bacteria without disturbing healthy gut bacteria, unlike broad-spectrum antibiotics. Mice infected with antibiotic-resistant bacteria survived after being treated with lolamicin, while those untreated had high mortality rates.
