1999 Yankees Diary, May 19: Irabu and the Yanks suffer a Beantown Beatdown

This was not the greatest stretch for the '99 Yankees. Coming into this one, they were 2-7 in their last nine games... Their run differential over that span: -25 (29 runs scored and 54 runs allowed).
They at least had Joe Torre back in the dugout, who had returned from prostate cancer treatment the previous day. And they were facing someone named Brian Rose... The result? Another ugly loss.
