1999 Yankees Diary, June 17: Rocket launches, but bats don't

For those of us born in the late 1990s, we don't really get a sense of just how good Roger Clemens was. He was an above-average pitcher in 2002 and 2003, but far from an ace, and although he was dominant during his post-retirement sojourn to Houston, we didn't really get to watch that in New York.
The start of the game on June 17, 1999, provides a good sample of the dominant force of nature that the then-two-time defending AL Cy Young Award winner was on the mound. Clemens struck out the side in the top of the first and carried this dominance through the second inning as well.
