Infielder Mark Vientos and left-handed pitcher Joey Lucchesi have been called up to the New York Mets major league club, with Joey Wendle and Yohan Ramirez designated for assignment.
Vientos will platoon with Brett Baty at third base, given the opportunity due to facing multiple left-handed pitchers. He has performed well in Triple-A Syracuse with a .285 batting average.
Starting pitcher Jose Butto was optioned to Triple-A due to control issues, while Grant Hartwig was recalled to provide bullpen depth, boasting a 2.51 E.R.A. in Triple-A this season.
