Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing are searching for two women who fled from a fatal collision involving a Ford U-Haul box truck.
The U-Haul driver struck a 56-year-old man and an overhead light pole before crashing into a Honda Accord, severely injuring its driver.
Emergency Medical Services pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene, later identified as David Opiela of Woodside, while the Honda driver is stable.
The investigation is ongoing, with no arrests made yet, by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.
