"It was the hardest time trial of my life," Evenepoel confessed after beating Filippo Ganna (Italy) to the crown by just six seconds. "But in the end, you have to be able to read your body well if you want to win."
Evenepoel faced challenges early on, stating, "I think if there's one thing my wife taught me over the years, it's that I have no control over things that are not controllable, so I tried to stay calm and focused on the race."
He experienced further setbacks after beginning his effort when no numbers were showing on the display of his power meter, adding to the difficulties he encountered during the race.
