Smirking Zohran Mamdani silent when questioned over terror-linked Brooklyn Imam Siraj Wahhaj
"Democratic socialist mayoral candidate Zohran smiled, waved, and stayed silent when pressed about his relationship with the allegedly terror-tied Imam Siraj Wahhaj."
""Mr. Mamdani, anything to say about the imam? He said some nasty stuff, does it bug you?" a Post reporter asked the 34-year-old mayoral candidate Sunday. "Anything?""
"Mamdani, however, just smirked and didn't utter a word as he climbed into the back of a waiting SUV."
"Pressed later in the day, Mamdani again smiled and refused to comment on the Brooklyn imam, whom he met with - despite a history of homophobic comments."
Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic socialist running for New York City mayor, met with Imam Siraj Wahhaj and spoke glowingly of him. Siraj Wahhaj has been described as allegedly terror-tied and has a public history of homophobic comments. When a reporter asked Mamdani whether Wahhaj's past statements bothered him, Mamdani smiled, smirked, and did not respond, entering a waiting SUV. Later in the day Mamdani again smiled and refused to comment about the imam. Photographs show Mamdani posing with Wahhaj and NYC Councilman Yusef Salaam.
