The 2024 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is a Norway spruce from Massachusetts, standing 74 feet tall and weighing 11 tons, marking a significant return after decades.
Erik Pauze, the head gardener for Rockefeller Center, discovered the tree in 2019 and pursued its donation over the past few years, signifying a special mission.
The tree’s owner, Earl Albert, agreed to the donation when approached by Pauze, who began to nurture the tree in 2023 to ensure its health.
The tree lighting ceremony on December 4 will celebrate this 70-year-old tree, the first from Massachusetts since 1959, representing tradition and festive spirit.
