Report: NYPD officer fired gun while clearing Columbia building

A police officer involved in clearing protesters from a Columbia University administration building fired his gun inside the hall. No one was injured. The gunfire came as police officers stormed Hamilton Hall late Tuesday where pro-Palestinian protesters had been barricaded for more than 20 hours.
More than 100 protesters were taken into custody during the crackdown at Columbia University. A spokesperson for District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office confirmed the incident and mentioned that no students were in the immediate vicinity.
Over 2,000 people have been arrested during pro-Palestinian protests at college campuses across the United States. Columbia's demonstrators had seized Hamilton Hall after escalating their demonstration from a tent encampment since April 17.
