A New York woman, Victoria Jacobs, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for funding terrorism using cryptocurrency, raising and laundering money for Syrian terrorist groups, as well as providing illegal support and instructions.
Manhattan district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, highlighted this as the first prosecution of terrorism funding in New York State Supreme Court, stating Victoria Jacobs was fully committed to enabling terrorist groups through financial means.
