Last night, the website, RIP.ie, was flooded with tributes from Roe's family and friends where he was described as a "legend" and "gentleman". However, the condolences section was also targeted by trolls with one poster leaving a message posing as Daniel Kinahan and thanking him for his "graft".
Roe's pals described him in glowing terms with many referring to him as a gentle giant. "Such a gentle giant. Rest in peace Bop. Thinking of Liam's family & loved ones at this sad time." Another stated, "you were a true friend behind the tough exterior you had a heart of gold."
Liam Roe became a major target for gardai following the Regency Hotel shooting as they cracked down on the Hutch and Kinahan Organised Crime Groups. He had been present during the Regency shooting in February, 2016, and pictured outside the hotel with associates after his first cousin David Byrne was killed.
