Fiery electric car crash in NY leaves 2 passengers dead, burned 'beyond recognition': cops
Briefly

The driver of a vehicle - believed to be a Tesla - lost control and veered onto a sidewalk before hitting a tree and crashing into a building on Battle Avenue at about 9:10 a.m., said David Chong, White Plains' commissioner of public safety. The car basically 'exploded' and caused significant fire damage to the building, Chong said.
The two people inside the car were found dead and 'burned beyond recognition,' cops said. Responding police and fire personnel extricated the torched car from the building, police said.
Two more residents in the building were treated and released by EMS for unspecified injuries. A bystander who was walking by the scene was hurt by shrapnel from the crash and has been taken to a nearby hospital, according to police.
