A 38-year-old Oakley man shot a gun at his father and later was stabbed by him during a struggle over the gun Thursday, police said.
During a struggle between father and son, the shotgun discharged into the ceiling, missing the father, police said.
Eventually the father was able to gain control over his son, and the son's mother disarmed him, police said.
Police continue to investigate and said they will work with the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office to determine what charges will be filed against the man.
