COWs in Brooklyn Heights cause stir before July 4 fireworks
Briefly

Temporary cell towers, referred to as Cells On Wheels (COWs), have been installed at the foot of Remsen Street in Brooklyn Heights in preparation for the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks. These towers aim to support mobile networks during the event, which is expected to attract over 100,000 attendees. Local Councilmember Lincoln Restler worked to address residents' concerns regarding noise, equipment space, and fire safety. The COWs are part of broader security preparations in light of heightened threat levels, as stated by city officials.
"I'm glad they heeded many of our concerns on the COWs. The generator will turn on for a test around 2 p.m. [Thursday], then off again until noon Friday. The equipment and fencing will be removed Saturday morning, July 5."
"COWs are temporary cell towers installed before a big event, like this year's Macy's Fourth of July fireworks display, which will bring more than 100,000 ticketed viewers to Brooklyn Bridge Park and roughly 4,000 city workers to the Promenade."
