Federal agents have arrested two former Fire Department chiefs on bribery and corruption charges, stemming from a longstanding investigation by the Southern District of New York.
The investigation, which reportedly began earlier this year, centers around allegations that Anthony Saccavino and Brian Cordasco accepted payments to expedite safety inspections for businesses.
The Southern District office confirmed the arrests, stating that Saccavino and Cordasco are both facing serious accusations that jeopardize the integrity of the Fire Department.
Following the investigation that led to their arrests, both Fire Department chiefs faced consequences, being moved to modified duty while the case unfolds.
