Thirteen young men from a Hasidic Jewish community were arraigned for damaging a wall inside a Brooklyn synagogue. The incident, involving a hammer and crowbar, led to charges such as criminal mischief and obstructing governmental administration.
The defendants, mostly from Israel studying Torah in New York, worship at 770 Eastern Parkway, the global headquarters of Chabad-Lubavitch. The synagogue is vital, especially during the Sabbath and Jewish holidays.
