Nikita Kucherov became the fifth player in NHL history to achieve a 100-assist season while leading in scoring with 144 points. His historic assist came as he set up Brayden Point's power-play goal.
Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers also reached 100 assists this season, marking the first time in 32 seasons that the NHL saw two players achieve the 100-assist milestone in the same season.
Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Bobby Orr are the other three players who have surpassed 100 assists in a single season. Gretzky holds the record for career assists with 1,963.
