"The future IBX (Interborough Express) light rail in NYC will be a game-changer for residents of Brooklyn and Queens by providing a direct connection with a short ride between the two boroughs. One of the neighborhoods that will get an IBX stop is East New York, a historically industrial neighborhood that is not without its challenges, but is ready for more transit and more housing."
"Tonya Canady, a luxury real estate expert with Serhant, stated that the IBX will create numerous opportunities for luxury apartments in East New York. I'm reminded of when I purchased my home in 2002, she said. Some people said don't buy it, but luckily I did, because now it's worth over four times as much. She also said that there will be many benefits for residents when, or if, the IBX stops in the area."
The IBX (Interborough Express) light rail will provide a direct 14-mile connection between Brooklyn and Queens, bypassing Manhattan and reducing outer-borough commute times. A full ride making all stops is projected to take no longer than 40 minutes, with Atlantic Avenue situated near the route midpoint for shorter commutes from East New York. East New York is historically industrial, has limited dining and entertainment options, but benefits from a central transit hub at Atlantic Avenue and proximity to Broadway Junction and the LIRR. The IBX is expected to enable more transit access and generate opportunities for new housing, including luxury apartments, increasing property values.
