More than 100 schools to go 'smartphone free' as move backed by MP
Briefly

Beginning in September, Barnet borough will enforce a ban on smartphones in primary schools and aspire to eliminate them from secondary schools. Over 63,000 students will benefit from increased focus, socialization, and development devoid of digital distractions. Supported by the Smartphone Free Childhood movement and local leaders, the initiative aims to combat rising incidences of mental health issues linked to smartphone use among children, emphasizing healthier childhood experiences. Local MP Dan Tomlinson champions the policy as essential for safeguarding students' educational focus and well-being.
The use of smartphones by schoolchildren is an unnecessary distraction from education and a huge risk to their mental health and wellbeing.
We really want children to be free from the dangers of smartphones and social media and to enjoy a play-based childhood, which is full of healthy development.
