Tom Petty noted that some music recorded for Long After Dark didn’t make the cut, stating, 'I left off... four things that I liked quite a bit.' This deluxe reissue allows fans to finally hear those previously unreleased tracks as part of a broader collection celebrating the album.
The deluxe reissue will feature 12 bonus tracks—including seven previously unreleased songs—such as Petty's version of 'Never Be You,' which became a substantial hit for Rosanne Cash.
Long After Dark (Deluxe Edition) will also come with liner notes from rock journalist David Fricke, featuring insights from notable figures like Jimmy Iovine and Cameron Crowe. This adds historical context and personal remarks enhancing the listeners’ experience.
Accompanying the reissue, the Petty Legacy archives will prominently showcase unearthed songs and videos from the early '80s, starting with a performance of 'Straight Into Darkness' filmed for French television.
