Scottish indie cult legends BMX Bandits - who traveled in the same orbit as Teenage Fanclub (Norman Blake was in the band for a while) and The Vaselines, will release their 12th album, Dreamers on the Run, in 2024. Duglas Stewart's melodic gifts are still sharp as the album's single shows.
Benjamin Woods' The Golden Dregs have released the first of a series of EP where they cover, as the title says, popular songs. For the premiere outing, they've taken on Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish and Caroline Polachek... We're big fans of all of them - Lana Del Rey for her dark lyrics and sprawling arrangements, Billie Eilish for her subtle understated textures and haunting vocals, and Caroline Polachek for her bombastic maximalism.
