European publishers coordinated by the European Newspaper Publishers' Association seek a European Commission investigation under the EU Digital Services Act. AI Overviews places a summarised block of text at the top of search results, and AI Mode synthesises content from multiple sources into a chatbot, both reportedly reducing clickthroughs and visibility.
