Neuromodulation/Neurostimulation Device Development for Mental Health Applications
Briefly

Encouraging the development of novel brain stimulation devices and accompanying software/hardware additions is crucial to improve brain stimulation treatments for mental health disorders and facilitate eventual FDA clearance.
New brain stimulation devices are urgently needed to address limitations of existing FDA-approved devices, such as cognitive side effects of ECT and variability in response to TMS, for more effective and widely utilized treatments across different mental disorders.
There is a need for new devices with features tailored to serious mental illnesses to fully explore the potential of brain stimulation treatments, as existing devices were primarily developed for neurological disorders and have shown mixed results in treating mental disorders.
