The mission of the Noninvasive Neuromodulation Unit is to discover the mechanisms of action of noninvasive neuromodulatory treatments and to use this understanding to develop safer, more effective, and personalized interventions for serious psychiatric conditions, such as treatment-resistant depression and autism spectrum disorders.
In contrast, TMS has an excellent safety profile and is FDA-cleared for treatment-resistant depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder or OCD, migraine, anxiety with depression, and smoking dependence.
