Warning over habitual delays for cancer treatment

Long waits for cancer care are routine in the UK, with nearly half of specialist cancer centres experiencing delays weekly. Workforce shortages in radiologists and clinical oncologists are reaching crisis levels.
47% of cancer centres report delays in chemotherapy and cancer drug treatments weekly or every week, up from 28% the previous year. Radiotherapy delays also doubled.
RCR president Dr. Katharine Halliday highlighted the critical issue of insufficient doctors: 'We simply do not have enough doctors to manage the increasing number of patients safely.'
