A growing number of patients with ulcerative colitis are turning to herbal medicines due to limited efficacy and side effects of conventional treatments.
Researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 28 randomized controlled trials to evaluate the effectiveness of 18 different herbs in managing active UC.
The most commonly studied herbs included turmeric, Andrographis paniculata, and Indigo naturalis, with pooled analyses showing promising results in the treatment of UC.
