The warning said 14 cases of the invasive infection have been reported among travellers to Saudi Arabia, with three cases in the UK, five in the US, and others in France, Norway, and the Netherlands.
Meningococcal disease, caused by Neisseria meningitidis bacteria, can lead to meningitis and has a fatality rate of up to 15%. It affects specific age groups more and presents symptoms like fever, headache, stiff neck, nausea, and vomiting.
