New Drug Provides Total Protection From H.I.V. in Trial of Young African Women

Results from a large clinical trial in Africa showed that a twice-yearly injection of lenacaprivir provided young women total protection from the virus, with none of the participants contracting H.I.V.
The trial of lenacaprivir, conducted in Uganda and South Africa, was halted early due to overwhelmingly convincing results, outperforming daily pill options like Truvada and Descovy in preventing H.I.V. infection.
