The culling has already commenced. After James Corden departed 'The Late Late Show' in 2023, CBS replaced it with a comedy game show called 'After Midnight.' Nobody shed a single tear.
These shows have never in history been such a tedious afterthought. Going all the way back to when Jack Paar took over 'Tonight' from Steve Allen in 1957, hosts have found unique and clever ways to embrace tradition.
