Almost four out of every 10 journalists covering the climate crisis have been threatened. 11% faced physical violence. 43% targeted by illegal activities, 30% threatened with legal action, silencing free speech.
Global survey by Internews' EJN and Deakin University shows the challenges faced by journalists covering climate and environmental issues. Despite increased prominence, climate stories lack adequate coverage. Urgent need highlighted by extreme weather, stark disparities in impact on vulnerable communities.
