The Yankees have designated lefty Nick Ramirez for assignment, per a team announcement.
Ramirez's 5.2% walk rate was outstanding, and his 47.4% grounder rate was sharp. This spring, he allowed five runs on nine hits with nine strikeouts.
Yankees prefer to turn to Tully rather than recall Ramirez, giving Ramirez options to be traded, pass through waivers, or be released.
Ramirez has solid control and ground-ball tendencies, with virtually no platoon split, despite his below-par strikeout rate.
