View From The Other Side: Questions for Danny Russell of DRays Bay
Briefly

Well, this Rays team has been very injured in every part of the roster, so it's been a .500 performance against the easiest the schedule will be this year using only some of the starters. If it's a fully healthy ball club, it's certainly a playoff roster, but it's wait-and-see for a lot of the best pieces like Brandon Lowe or the top starters.
Tyler Alexander should be in the bullpen, but injuries keep allowing him to stay in the rotation. He's a 2-seam, 4-seam lefty who has found better value after the Rays added a sweeper to his arsenal this off-season. Don't expect him to exceed 90 mph, but do expect to be dazzled by an excellent 'stache.
Zach Eflin should be the Rays best starter, he got the Opening Day nod after all, but he isn't pitching like it. Eflin doesn't walk anybody and usually cruises, but he seems to have one bad inning every game where it goes south. His xERA is 3.49, which is what his actual ERA was last season, so he should settle in eventually. He pretty evenly mixes a sinker, cutter, curve, and sweeper.
Aaron Civale should have an ERA close to Eflin's, his xERA is a 3.59, but the real one is 5.83. Like the other two starters, he's a low-walk, high-flyball pitcher. It's a similar pitch mix to Eflin, but his sweeper is one of the best in baseball, and he really should probably throw that sucker more often.
