Los Angeles scorches under triple-digit temperatures with little relief overnight. When will it end?
Briefly

The soaring temperatures in Southern California are not unique to this region. International climate officials confirm that the summer of 2024 was Earth's hottest on record, with an average temperature of 62.24 degrees.
Ryan Kittell, a meteorologist, explains how high overnight temperatures occur during heat waves: 'We get our marine layer squashed so low that really warm and dry layer we have above gets into the populated areas.'
Temperatures in Los Angeles are expected to be searing yet again, with predictions of 104 degrees in downtown LA and even hotter in places like Pasadena and Burbank.
Kittell stated, 'It's not a slam dunk, but I expect a record or two to be broken today,' referring to the soaring temperatures and records set in previous days.
